Of course I'm here. And I was about five minutes away from messaging you. Did something happen?
[There's concern on his face, as he gets out of his seat. Viktor's almost never late, if they don't arrive together. Usually it means something is hurting and it made travel difficult.]
No. No. Nothing happened. [ Viktor has always been shit at lying to Jayce's face so his eyes will shift towards the door and then back to him with a small barely perceptible smile. ]
I was merely caught up in something. But nothing to worry over. Though there is, eh, one thing I would like you to take a look at. If you don't mind?
[He's not going to let himself get too excited, but... He knows his own birthday. He marked it on the shared calendar, and Viktor's attempt at lying just further suggests to him: it's a birthday thing. But he'll play along as he heads toward the door and to the bag set down nearby.]
Mm. [ Viktor will follow behind Jayce before standing off to the side. He looks...nervous ever so slightly. He's not the best cook, not even a little bit, but his attempt at baking a cake hopefully yielded some good results??
The bag contains two large boxes and two smaller ones, all wrapped in unassuming rather plain wrapping paper. Viktor will motion with a hand for Jayce to go on. The first large box will contain a rather makeshift-looking chocolate cake with sprinkles, clearly handmade by Viktor, given the uneven nature of the frosting and the cake itself, but he tried his best!! The other box is a nicer, more professionally done cake with all the fixings for a vanilla strawberry cake. The two smaller boxes each contain a geode. A blue agate and a red jasper geode. There's also a book on computer programming wrapped neatly in there, as well as a music book for guitar. ]
Happy birthday, Jayce. [ There's a warm smile touching his lips and in his eyes as he says those words softly. ]
I, ah, wanted to have some variety for the cakes. But I am also pretty sure that there are eggshells in the cake I made. [ He sucks so much at cracking eggs?? He can build revolutionary technology but not crack an egg...shame. ]
But I hope you don't mind doing this here. I wasn't sure with everything going on if you would have wanted a larger gathering for your birthday.
🥳

[ He just gives Jayce an expectant look. ]
